So we have our "summers coming" competition up and running... your chance to win !!!

So the sun poked its head out and we decided to take the maximum advantage of it.....

Roast Chicken and a Sticky Pudding on the BBQ

We have been wanting to pop a chicken on the BBQ and roast it.

We wanted that amazing smokey, woody taste and crispy skin.

So we pulled out the Ultimate Convector Grill, set up the two baskets in indirect mode and added two small pieces of fire starter on each side, popped in 22 briquettes on each side. Lit the starters and sat back for 20 minutes until we had the beginning of a grey ash on top of each basket. We also decided to be a little lazy and save a bit on cleaning time so we placed a piece of aluminium foil across the bottom of the grill floor to catch any fat that dropped into the base. We also added a foil catch tray in the middle to catch the major juices from the meal.

Then we popped the two grids on top and gave them a few minutes to warm up.

"Ok,, on with the Chicken and close the lid" and that instruction I obeyed, as I was handed a steaming cup of coffee...well it was just getting to 12 o clock, so a bit early for a cold beer, although I know a lot of guys that would disagree :-)

A pie on a braaibeque ?

So who would ever think of cooking a pie or a quiche on a BBQ ?

Well why not was our answer ?

So we made up some pastry cases with phyllo pastry, popped in some chicken and mushroom mix into three of them and some spinach and chicken mix into the other three, topped them with a few slices of bacon , brushed them with some melted butter, and popped them onto the grill on the Ultimate Convector Grill, in indirect cooking mode. 

Well a quick look to the right and you can see the end result, served with a bit of salad.....

​DELICIOUS doesn't describe that smokey taste and crunchy crust with all that perfectly cooked inner.... !!!

Who says you cannot have a BBQ in Ireland in winter ?


So the new products had arrived and we had to get some promotional pictures of them.

The guys around the estate where we live had been clearing trees after a big wind storm and had chopped loads of them into blocks, so we decided to set up alongside them and take our pictures there.

The unit is basically a "V" shaped fire pit and we have added three height settings where the folding box grid will rest.

The entire unit can be disassembled and packed away or it can just be cleaned of the ash and placed back into the box it is supplied in.

It is also small enough to fit into the boot of your car or RV to take along with you on a day outing or even a camping or caravanning holiday.

All made in 3 mm stainless steel is is robust ( and a little heavy ) but it is guaranteed to last for years and stay looking good.

The folding box grid makes it so easy to cook on. You simply place all of your meat or sandwiches or chicken in between the two grids, fold the grid together, slide on the retaining loop and place it onto the supports on the unit. 

Give it a few minutes and turn it over to allow the other side to cook. Repeat this a few times and get ready to enjoy your meal.
